Robert Bassett (Bob) Walker died Aug. 17, 2008, at the age of 71 from complications of Multiple Myeloma in Olathe, Colo.

Bob was born Oct. 23, 1936, in Lovell to Ariel Francis Walker and Helen Lucinda Bassett. Bob was the third of five boys. His brothers are Dean, Lewis, Ned and Mark.

Bob said the most cherished event in his life was meeting his loving companion Yvonne Sawyer. They met at Christmas time, at a dance, in his junior year of high school. They were married in 1955 in Billings.  Bob and Yvonne were blessed with two sons, Terry Sawyer Walker and Jon Ariel Walker, and one daughter Kari Walker Carter.

On Aug. 2, 1956, Bob and Yvonne went to Idaho Falls, Idaho, to go through the LDS Temple to receive their endowments and have Terry sealed to them.

Bob served as ward clerk under various bishops. He was also a stake missionary. Bob and Yvonne were called as temple ordinance workers when the Billings Temple was first opened. Most recently they worked as stake family history directors.

Bob worked in various places and jobs throughout his life. He moved to Mesa, Ariz. to work for the Shamrock Dairy in 1963, and then Chandler, Ariz. the same year for the same company. In 1964 he moved to Sandy, Utah, to work for Luster Craft selling pots and pans, and the same year, moved to Moore, Utah to manage a dairy farm, until 1968 when the family moved to Lovell where he worked for Georgia-Pacific. Later the same year he went to work for the Sage Creek Refinery.   He retired from the National Guard  after 25 years of service.

When the refinery closed, he drove school bus and was a custodian for the Highway Department until he went to work for the Highway Department on the road maintenance crew. He retired from the state in 1999.

Bob looked forward to the harvest season when he helped Jim with his barley and beets. He enjoyed working in his garden, especially when the great-grandchildren came to visit and went to eat fresh vegetables from the garden. He liked to fish and hunt throughout his life. His real passion was family history.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Ariel Francis Walker, and granddaughter Michelle Walker.   He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yvonne Sawyer, his mother, Helen Walker, brothers Dean (Rebecca) Walker, Lewis (Joan) Walker, Ned (Nancy) Walker and Mark (Carlene) Walker;  sons Terry (Sharleen)  and Jon (Becky); daughter Kari Carter (Jim); grandchildren Kevin Carter(Tara), Kresha (Aaron) Hendrickson, Ryan Wilkerson(Tiffany), Alisha Walker, Darshon (Tim) Montover, Courtney Heller, Nichole (Tim) Smith, Helen (Brandon) Gray, Brenda (Tanner) Brown, Lyndsey Baker, Cassie Walker and 16 great-grandchildren.
