Chancey Ernest Yenny

July 3, 1936 – March 19, 2021

Chancey Ernest Yenny passed away on March 19, 2021, at the age of 84. He will be remembered as a loving and generous man who always had a smile on his face.

Chancey was born in Shell, Wyo., on July 3, 1936. He lived there until he enlisted in the Navy at the age of 16. During his eight years in the service, he had quite a few adventures and saw many parts of the world. He worked in the boiler room on a battleship, and was on the U.S.S. Boston during the Bay of Pigs Invasion in Cuba.

For nearly 58 years, Chancey was married to the love of his life - Lenny. They met while he was stationed in Boston, Mass. A friend set them up on a blind date, and it turned out to be a perfect match. They tied the knot a year later.

Chancey and Lenny remained in Boston, where their children Rachel and Ernie were born. A few years later, they moved to Greybull, Wyo. where they had a third child, Michael. The couple lived in Greybull until 2013, when they moved to the nearby town of Basin.

Chancey had a long career as a truck driver. His hobbies included repairing and restoring old clocks, repairing small engines and mechanical items, home improvement projects, gardening and coin collecting. At one time, he had his pilot's license and bought a small airplane that he flew for a while. Family was everything to Chancey. He and Lenny were seldom apart, and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Chancey is survived by his wife, Lenny Yenny; children: Ernest (Lisa Delucchi) of Greybull and Michael Yenny of Basin; grandchildren: Christa Genger and husband, Jans Buchacher of Greybull, Sarah Yenny of Havre, Mont., Grace Yenny of Prior, Okla., Chancey (Arika) Yenny and their son Able of Clayton, Wash.; his step-grandchildren Calvin, Colton and Aidan Farrow of Greybull.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Yenny, and step-granddaughter, Yeraldin Payano, and a sister, Louis Pohler. Rest in peace, Chancey. Our thoughts of you will always be filled with love, laughter and gratitude, and memories and lessons from a life well lived.

A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Atwood Family Chapel in Basin. A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 26 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greybull. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
