George W. Preis

George W. Preis, 80, died of Alzheimer’s disease, June 15, 2022, in Chandler, Arizona. George was born April 26, 1942, to Walter WillIam and Elizabeth Fern (Shoemaker) Preis in Greybull, the youngest of three children.

He grew up on the family farm in Emblem, graduating from Greybull High School in 1960, from Northwest Community College in Powell in 1962 and from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado, with a degree in music education in 1965. He later completed a master’s degree through Lesley College.

George married Beverly Jean Rose December 18, 1965, in Emblem. They were married 52 years before divorcing in 2017.

He was a vocal music teacher for 32 years in Wyoming, teaching three years in the Frannie-Deaver school district and 29 years in the Lovell schools.

George enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and pitching horseshoes. He also enjoyed woodworking and working on his 1961 Ford F100.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patra.

He is survived by his daughter, Renee Preis, and granddaughter Taryn Preis of Chandler, son Wesley Preis and his fiancé, Kimberly Tahini, of Phoenix, former wife Beverly of Chandler, sister Donna Hanselmann of Greeley, several nieces and nephews and extended family.

Funeral services will be held July 6 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lovell with Pastor Jacob Benson officiating. Cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be buried in the Emblem, Wyoming, cemetery.
