James Thomas Thurlow

James Thomas Thurlow

Aug. 20, 1953 – July 19, 2022

James Thomas Thurlow, 68, met the end of his struggle with Parkinson’s disease on July 19, 2022.

Born on Aug. 20, 1953, in Fulton, New York, Jim, as he was known by family and friends, ended his journey in Lovell. He was a nomad at heart. He called many places home over the course of his life so long as he had his family, particularly his beloved wife of 44 years, Carol, by his side.

Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army. He considered his service to his country to be one of his greatest achievements.

Jim was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, riding motorcycles and playing cards. He always had a story to tell, and knew how to spin it with a loud and boisterous flair.

He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Idamae Thurlow.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Pratt Thurlow, and his three children,

daughter Shawna (Scott) Campbell and sons George (Wendy) Parrott and Richard Parrott.

His grandchildren Allicia Parrott, Kylee Greenleaf, Tiahna Greenleaf, Conner Parrott and Breonna Parrott share his nomadic spirit and will carry his memory with them on their journeys.

Jim spent his childhood in Fulton with his brothers, Arthur (Linda) Thurlow, Allen (Sue) Thurlow, Howard (Patsy) Thurlow, William (Nancy) Thurlow and Robert (Kimberly) Thurlow; and a sister, Joan (Gary Firenze) Thurlow. He was an uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Honoring Jim’s wishes, no services will be held. A celebration of life will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Jim’s family kindly requests donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research should you choose to honor Jim’s memory.
