Chamber lighting contest nearing deadline
Folks wanting to nominate a home for the annual Lovell Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Lighting Contest can still do so, but time is growing short.
Chamber manager Linda Morrison said people can still nominate their friends or neighbors, or even nominate themselves.
The deadline is Friday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m.
“There are some great lighting displays, and the Chamber would like to reward these, so please come forward and let the Chamber know,” Morrison said. “Homeowners are certainly invited to nominate themselves.”
The contest is open to all residents of North Big Horn County, and the first-place winner will receive $100 in chamber bucks, the second-place winner $50 and third place $25.
Those nominated are asked to keep their lights on December 16-19 for judging. The top displays will be featured in the Christmas Week edition of the Lovell Chronicle.
Homes that won first place over the last two years cannot win first place this year but can place second or third, Morrison said.
The Chamber is also forming a “Don’t Miss List” for the Chamber’s Facebook page so people can know about the best displays in the area.
“I really encourage folks to enter. There are some great displays,” Morrison said. “It will help folks know where they are located with the Don’t Miss List.”

Monday luncheon
Morrison also announced the December Chamber membership luncheon at the Mustang Café Monday at noon.
“The program will feature reflections from an important small business in our area, Haskell Funeral Home,” Morrison said. “This Lovell business has continued for four generations and has provided much for communities and families throughout the Big Horn Basin.”
The commercial will be provided by Bazooka Lumber.
“Small businesses are the heart of our communities,” Morrison said. “The chamber would like to stress that small choices make a huge difference as we strive to support all our small businesses. During this holiday season, shop local and discover the uniqueness of what the businesses have to offer.”
As a reminder, the public is always invited to attend the luncheons. Call the Chamber office at 548-7552 or email lovellchamber1@gmail.com for more information.
