Edith Ann Lawson Chaney

Edith Ann Lawson Chaney, 80, died Dec. 14, 2014, of natural causes at Elkhorn long-term facility in Clancy, Mont.

Born to Charles and Emma Watts on April 4, 1934, in Lovell, she was preceded in death by her parents, her eldest brother Earl Watts, her youngest brother Robert Watts, her son Wyatt Lawson, her granddaughter Kirstine Lawson and her grandson Reece Cape.

Edith grew up in the Lovell-Byron area in Wyoming and graduated from Byron High School in 1953.  She immediately started caring for elderly people in their homes in Powell and Cody and the surrounding areas. She married John H. Lawson and they had three children, Julia O’Neal (Dick), JC Lawson and Wyatt Lawson (Evelyn).

  She was a loving sister, mother and friend to all that knew her. In addition to doing home health care, Edith worked in the Powell hospital and the Cody hospital, but her heart was with the families and elderly that wanted to remain in their homes.

Edith is survived by her sister Veda of Worland, brother Richard (Harlene) Watts of Arizona, brother Carl (Liz) Watts of Byron, brother Ralph (Sandra) Watts of Iowa,  daughter Julia O’Neal (Dick) and her son JC, her grandchildren McKenzie Blare, Meghan Smith (JD), Korrin (Justin) and great-grand children Alexis, Avery, Braxten, Tayler, Emma, Jade and Bret. Edith had many nephews and nieces and was loved by all.

Services will be Monday, Dec. 29, at the Presbyterian Church in Cody at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. For any questions or information call Julia at 406-422-3893.
