The Hyart Theatre is cooking up some summer fun in the form of a summer movie combo pack that will provide the opportunity for discounted movie prices on Thursday afternoons from June through mid-August.

According to theater manager Linda Mangus, the program is designed for “older kids” to provide a mid-week afternoon matinee and give them something to do during the summer, but anyone can purchase the 10-movie combo pack, including adults.

The summer movie series begins June 5 and runs through August 14 with movies starting at the traditional Saturday matinee time of 3 p.m. The movies cost $2 each, and those attending can simply show up, but the Hyart is also offering two punch tickets that provide popcorn and a drink for a combined discount price.

The basic punch ticket costs $48 and provides 10 movies plus a kids pack, a box with popcorn, a small pop, a sucker and fruit pack at each showing. The premium punch ticket costs $56 and provides the 10 movies plus one small popcorn and a small pop each week.

Those attending each week will save $12 per movie with the basic ticket and $14 per movie for the premium ticket, Mangus said. Concessions will still be available, and attendees can simply attend for $2 per movie and purchase concessions separately.

“We want to be able to offer an additional community safe area for kids to do something,” Mangus said. “We did a survey on Facebook and for the most part people wanted us to pick the middle of the week. It’s available to everybody. Adults can buy the passes, too.”

The summer combo pack will be available before or after the movies on Friday and Saturday including at 6 p.m. each movie night, an hour before the evening show, at the ticket booth.

Movies to be shown through the program are Bad Guys, Migration, Shrek, An American Tail, Shrek 2, Trolls Band Together, Puss in Boots the Last Wish, Land Before Time, The Rise of Gru and The Wild Robot.
