Don was born June 16, 1930, in Lovell in his family home. He grew up in a loving but hardworking family. Don attended and graduated from Lovell High School. He grew up loving to drive, and in his younger years he delivered laundry for his father and enjoyed every minute of it.
After high school Don enlisted in the Lovell National Guard unit and was soon deployed to Korea. He went with some of his lifelong friends. After returning from his service in the military, he fell in love with the girl next door. He married Marilyn Hansen and stayed married until the day he died. Soon after, he took over the laundry business from his father and continued to operate it until he decided to just do dry cleaning. After several years in the dry cleaning service, he decided to purchase the Sears Catalog store. Don was successful with the business at Sears, but the company eventually closed all the catalog stores, so Don took to retirement. Although retired, he never stopped going. He was always in the service of others, whether it be in the community or his religion.
Don was a volunteer fireman for 24 years. This was a service he loved to do; he felt that it was his responsibility to the community. In fact, he mentioned that being in the service of others brought him the most happiness and satisfaction. He was willing to do almost anything anyone asked him to do.
A funeral service was held at Wilks Funeral Home on July 10, 2015, and Don was buried in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Pocatello, Idaho. Many friends and family attended the service. Military rites were presented by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
Don will be missed by all of those with whom he was associated; everyone loved Don.
