Lovell resident wins Ace Hardware contest
Pam Felt said she has been lucky in the past, but this time she really hit the jackpot, winning $7,000 worth of Craftsman brand tools through Ace Hardware’s “Gear Up Your Garage” sweepstakes. In fact, the load of tools Felt won was so big, she had to rent a storage space to accommodate them.Felt said it was “ironic” that “a girl with no shed or a garage” won such a motherload of tools. She said the tools included a wide variety of both garden and garage tools.[caption id="attachment_11812" align="alignright" width="285"]

This was the first year the contest was held, according to Grassey.Felt said her favorite of all of the items she won is a brand new self-propelled lawn mower. Felt said, though she had to sell some of the tools to pay the 30 percent taxes associated with her win, she was still excited about the contest win.Felt said she entered a contest she saw in a Facebook post by “liking and forwarding” an Ace Hardware link. According to Grassey, Felt’s name was selected randomly.“I don’t normally enter contests like that because of so many scams,” said Felt. “I’m not sure why I entered this one, but I’m gladI did.”The tools were delivered to Felt by local retailers Jerry Jackson and Brian Fischer from the Powell Ace Hardware Store. According to Grassey, the tools came from the store’s inventory.Grassey said the Ace Hardware Corporation holds a number of other contests, including a “31 days of color” contest every year in March, where the winner receives a $10,000 design makeover that includes not only the costof paint but a professional consultation by a design expert to go with it.“We hold contests fairly often, but not necessarily the same ones every year,” explained Grassey. “The paint contest is a really popular one.”
