RMMS track and field squad strong at Shoshoni Invite

Christiansen ties school record

 

After taking a week off for spring break, the Rocky Mountain Middle School track and field squad traveled to Shoshoni Saturday for the Shoshoni Junior High Invitational and produced some strong results.

Sixth grader Tianna Christiansen placed second in two events. She ran 35.20 in the 200-meter hurdles to place second in the Youth 13-14 Division and tied the seventh-grade school record in the pole vault by clearing 6-6 to place second in the Middle School Division.

The team of Elle Ganoung, Presli Moss, Alexis Clark and Kate Crosby placed eighth in the Junior High 400-meter relay, covering the four laps in 1:04.15.

Sixth grader Kielley Brimhall placed fifth in the Youth Division triple jump with a leap of 23-6½, and Ganoung placed ninth in the Junior High Division in 27-3½.

100m dash – Kate Crosby 12th, Youth Division, 15.66; 200m dash – Crosby 15th, Youth, 34.11, Lauren Hedges 18th, Youth, 34.70; 400 meters – Clair Mumford 15th, Youth, 1:51.76; 800 meters – Tianna Christiansen 11th, Youth, 3:20.98; 200-meter hurdles – Elle Ganoung 16th, Junior High, 37-78; high jump – Presli Moss 15th, Youth, 3-8; discus – Millie Hanusa 15th, Youth, 36-5, Kielley Brimhall 16th, Youth, 35-7.

 

Boys results

The top placers for the Rocky Mountain boys were Jaxx May and Benson Jolley. May, an eighth grader, placed second in the 400-meter dash, Junior High Division, in a time of 1:01.46, while sixth grader Tripp Hopkin placed eighth in the Youth 400 in 1:18.68.

Jolley placed second in the pole vault, Junior High Division, clearing 7-6. Tyler Crosby placed eighth in the same division, clearing 6-0.

May placed fifth in the Junior High high jump, clearing 5-2, and fifth in the 100-meter dash, Junior High Division, 12.79.

This week’s meet in Worland has been cancelled due to expected cold weather, and the Grizz will enjoy home cooking for their next meet, the Rocky Mountain Invitational, on Friday, April 25.
