What's your love story? Bruce and Linda Morrison
Unbeknownst to Linda and me, we had a mutual friend while we were both students at Brigham Young University. Jim was the one who decided that she and I should meet, and so he set up an unusual date for his two 23- and 22-year-old friends from Wyoming and Idaho.
The first part of the date would be a gymnastics meet at the Smith Fieldhouse on BYU’s campus. The second part of the date was a drive up to the base of the Y on Y Mountain in a lime green Volkswagen bug. We four fit snuggly, and in spite of the treacherous switchbacks and lots of laughter, we made it up and back. The blind date was a success — Jim had done well.
The 1975 school year was coming to a close, so the next month was filled with long talks and many dates that helped us get to know each other. I proposed to her in Island Park at a family friend’s cabin.
Linda worked in the Tetons that summer, and I worked in Lovell. Each weekend was packed with trips back and forth through the parks. We were married on August 1, 1975, and we have recently celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. Forty-eight of those years have been in Lovell, where we have made our home and raised our family.
