‘Hold the Phone’ presentation to address effects of screen time

Washakie County Extension is hosting a presentation and open discussion about how to develop healthy habits around screen time. The presentation is on January 5 at 4 p.m. at the Washakie Museum, in Worland.

Washakie County Extension Educator Dan Vanderploeg has invited two experts in the field of development and counseling to present their expertise. 

Dr. Grace Shearer from the University of Wyoming is presenting results of studies centered around the effects of screen time, especially cell phones and tablets, on younger brains. Dr. Shearer has studied how the brain controls health behaviors and will discuss the pros and cons of devices. 

Larissa Bonner, a University of Wyoming Extension Community Vitality and Health Educator in Sheridan County, has a degree in counseling and human services. She will also present and discuss how devices affect our children.

After the presentations, there will be open discussion and a question-and-answer time.
