2024 Mustang Days rodeo queen and princess crowned

The Lovell Rodeo Club held their annual Mustang Days royalty contest at the Lovell rodeo grounds on Saturday, April 27. 

There was a good turnout and great attitudes present, according to organizers.

The contest consisted of horsemanship patterns and a question-and-answer session in front of a panel of four judges.

Two winners were crowned as the 2024 Mustang Days Royalty Court.

Ella Pierce of Deaver is the 2024 Mustang Days Rodeo queen, and Daisy Carpenter of Lovell is the Mustang Days Rodeo princess.

Pierce is the 16-year-old daughter of Karl Pierce and Emily Sand from Deaver and is a sophomore at Rocky Mountain High School.

In her free time, Pierce enjoys roping, rodeo, tagging calves and skiing.

Her future plans include attending Northwest College for ag science and equine business.

Carpenter is daughter of Jack and Jill Carpenter of Lovell and is 13 years old. 

She is a seventh grader at Lovell Middle School, and in her free time Carpenter enjoys hanging out with friends, rodeo, anything to do with horses, fishing, shooting guns, roping, tagging calves and spending time with family.

Her future plans include attending the University of Wyoming and training horses.

The Lovell Rodeo Club will host a rodeo Calcutta on Friday, June 28, at the Diamond J Bar at 8 p.m., with the Mustang Days Rodeo held the following day at the Lovell Rodeo Grounds.

This year, the rodeo slack will start at 2 p.m. with the main performance to follow beginning at 4 p.m.                                   

Following the rodeo will be a free, live concert by the Smoking Aces with the purchase of rodeo tickets.

Rodeo entries will be open online June 1-15, or call-in entries will be accepted June 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by calling 307-254-9577.

The Get Smashed Burger Bar food truck will be the food provider along with other vendors such as Munchies and Broken Desert Ranch Tack and Tees.

The club is still running their “Chase the Ace” fundraiser, and the ace of spades has yet to be drawn.
