Barbara Lee Miller Mincey

Barbara Lee Miller Mincey

Dec. 28, 1938 – Sept. 14, 2022

Barbara Lee (Miller) Mincey passed away on September 14, 2022, after an extended illness.

She was born on December 28, 1938, to Earl and Margaret Miller in Abbyville, Kansas. She moved around frequently as a child as her father worked in the oil fields, living in Colorado, Montana and Canada. She graduated from high school in Scobey, Montana, in 1956.

She had a wandering spirit with big dreams to chase, including wearing fur coats and having big jewelry and big hair. The bigger, the better. She was blessed with four children, Brett, Tanja, (little) Richard and Rachelle. The second two came 16 years after the first two.

She came to Cowley first in 1978 to follow her mother. She returned in the mid ‘90s and made Cowley her home after that.

Barbara was a hard worker, rarely missing work and often working two jobs at a time. She worked for GK Trucking at their scale house for 20 years and only retired due to her declining health.

In her spare time, she liked to crochet, do puzzles and watch Animal Planet. She will be missed by her dog, Tasha, whom she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Richard Martinez Jr.

She is survived by her children, Brett (Tina) Newman, Tanja (Dan) Sloan and Rachelle Martinez and fiancée Grant Kibbey, 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, beloved sister Ramona Abeyta and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Cowley LDS Church. There will be no graveside services. Her ashes will be spread as she wished.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Humane Society.
