Big Horn County 4-H celebrates 2025 achievements

Big Horn County 4-H recognized the contributions of its volunteer leaders and success of its members during its recent Achievement Night celebration.

The evening’s highlights included the presentation of nine-year member pins, considered the greatest milestone in 4-H, along with a variety of special awards recognizing outstanding achievement in 4-H.

The following Big Horn County 4-Hers received nine-year jackets:  Garrett Dalin, Connor Hoyt, Burl Twitchell, Colten Bitton, Elyssa Croft, Brooklynn Paxton, David Durfee, Caiden Sorenson, Triffen Jolley and Elizabeth Holloway.

“Each of you has made a significant impact in Big Horn County through your commitment to the 4-H program,” said Gretchen Gasvoda, 4-H educator in Big Horn County. “Whether participating in club meetings, completing projects or engaging in county, state and national opportunities, your involvement has enriched our entire community.

“You may have encouraged new members to join 4-H or helped someone learn a new skill. Your leadership, kindness and willingness to grow have not gone unnoticed. Thank you for your years of hard work and dedication.”

Wyatt Harrison, Maycee McKim, Roseannah Brown and Evelyn Brown were honored for completing their 10th or 11th year in Big Horn County 4-H.

Several special awards were presented at the end of the ceremony.

The Harry Collins Memorial Wool Blanket Award given to the senior or intermediate 4-H member exhibiting the top breeding sheep or market sheep record book went to Kinzie Blain.

Veda Morgan and Lily Burns were this year’s recipients of the Gerritt Swiftney Memorial Award given to the first-year member with outstanding record book accomplishments and community and club participation.

Daizy Weinand captured the Shannon Lane Betz Memorial 4-H Horse Award. The award recognizes a 4-H horse member who has distinguished themselves in participation and placement at horse events at fair, 4-H community service, sportsmanship and portfolios.

The Two Moons/Homewood family was recognized in the special 4-H families segment of the program.  

The Extra Mile member award went to Veda Morgan while Extra Mile leader awards went to John Morgan and Julie Brown.

James Davis was nominated for the Bright Clover Future Award, given in memory of Ha’den Kelso. Dean Martens won the Clover Boost Award, which recognizes 4-H members who embody enthusiasm and dedication in their journey.

The outstanding 4-H alumni recognition went to Brenda Miller.

The Bank of Greybull was recognized as the Friend of 4-H.
