Big Horn County Rodeo Queen, princesses named at fair board meeting

The Big Horn County Fair Board monthly meeting was held June 3. All board members were in attendance as were fair manager Cash Duncan and summer staffer Morgan Haley.

Brinley Longshore was crowned Big Horn County Fair Rodeo Queen. Chole Cauffman is this year’s Princess. The Junior Princess is Kate Cooper. Five contestants vied for the titles.

The royalty will represent the fair at various parades throughout the Big Horn Basin. They will also help at events during county fair. 

DOGS ON GROUNDS 

The topic of banning dogs on the fairgrounds was discussed at length during the meeting. Duncan said he has talked to the Town of Basin as the fairgrounds are within town limits. The issue could be enforced by the town, but Duncan isn’t sure the town wants to. 

Signs will be put up around the grounds. Service dogs are exempt from the ban, though proof of certification may be requested. The restriction of no dogs includes lap dogs and dogs in the campground area.

In other action at the fair board meeting:

• The last reading of the bylaw changes was read and passed. The changes are: A) The board meeting is the first Monday of the month at 6 p.m., and B) In the absence of the chair, the board treasurer will run the meeting. 

• The bid to create the 2024 BHC Fair Book went to Wyoming Modern Technology in Greybull.

• Lisa’s Restaurant was the only bid for the 2024 beer garden. The board accepted the bid. 

• The board discussed to whom the fair book should be dedicated.
