Bighorn Canyon Visitor Center closed until budget is resolved

Due to the U.S. Government budgetary impasse as of October 1, the Cal S. Taggart Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area South District Visitor Center is closed. All visitor services and programs at this location will be suspended until further notice.

The closure is the result of a lapse in federal appropriations, which occurs when Congress has not passed a budget or continuing resolution to fund government operations. During such times, agencies are legally required to suspend many services and close facilities that are not deemed essential, including visitor centers.

The park itself remains open to visitors.
