Byron News Byron residents enjoy Labor Day breakfast
Early Monday morning the cooks Ted Mickleson, Shae Abraham and Larry Gaisford were at Jones Park grilling bacon and flipping pancakes. The community was invited to start their Labor Day off with a hot breakfast and visits with neighbors.
All tables were filled, as well as appetites. This breakfast was sponsored by the Family History Committee of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We were all encouraged to make time to take our families to the Byron Museum to enjoy the displays.
Kudos to Dwayne and Harriet Jackson and Denney and Linda NeVille for their efforts to arrange and maintain a first-class museum to preserve the history of our community. Elden Sanders shared information on the history of Byron church activities over the past several years.
Pictures were available of the church building that was built in 1960 including a photo of the empty field west of the old Carter place as well as the building in the early stages with trusses. There were also pictures of the original light-colored brick building before the addition and current brick was added. The dedication of the building that was given by Elder Spencer W. Kimball at the completion is available to listen to on YouTube.
A taste of good food and memories was enjoyed. This Labor Day breakfast was open to all community members and has become a nice tradition.
