Christopher Duane Rudd, age 37, of Greybull, Wyo., passed away at South Big Horn County Hospital between Basin and Greybull, Wyo., on Wednesday, July 20, 2016.Christopher was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on Dec. 21, 1978, to Dana Duane and Sheila Mae (Elder) Rudd. He received his schooling in Anchorage, Alaska, and Greybull, Wyo. Christopher continued his education at WyoTech in Laramie, Wyo., and Northwest College in Powell, Wyo.Sergeant First Class Christopher Rudd enlisted in C/2-300 FA, WY ARNG, in April 1998 as a cannoneer. He held multiple positions in C/2-300,[caption id="attachment_11490" align="alignright" width="208"]
Christopher Duane Rudd[/caption]including team leader, howitzer gunner and howitzer section chief. He served with C/2-300 FA through July 2010. During this time, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom twice, in 2004 and again in 2009. Following that he spent three years in the 920th Forward Support Company in Lovell, Wyo., as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. In 2013 SFC Rudd accepted a position as a HIMARS Platoon Sergeant in A/2-300 in Gillette, where he has served until his passing. SFC Rudd’s awards include the WY ARNG State Active Duty Ribbon, the WY ARNG Achievement Ribbon, two Army Achievement Medals, and Army Commendation Medal, as well as the Combat Action Badge.Christopher met and married Emily Ann McClure on Sept. 18, 2014, at Greybull, Wyo.Christopher was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with his family.Christopher was a member of the VFW, and was a member of the NRA. Christopher was still active in the Wyoming Army National Guard.Christopher is survived by his wife, Emily Rudd of Greybull, Wyo.; his son, Garret Christopher Ellis-Rudd of Basin, Wyo.; his step-son, Kale McNaight of Greybull, Wyo.; his parents, Dana and Sheila Rudd of Greybull, Wyo.; his sisters, Angela Rudd and daughter, Zelma Rose Rudd, of Cody, Wyo.; and Dawn (Phil) Drollinger and daughter, Paige Drollinger, and son, Cody Drollinger, of Worland, Wyo.; his brother, Daniel Rudd of Casper, Wyo.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.A memorial service will be held at the Elks BPOE #1431 Lodge in Greybull, Wyo., on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 10 a.m. with Reverend Michael McMillan as officiant followed by military rites. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow the service at the Elks BPOE #1431 Lodge.Memorials in Christopher’s name can be sent to Big Horn Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 471, Greybull, WY 82426.
