County forms semi-quincentennial committee

BY BARBARA ANNE GREENE

The United States will celebrate its 250-year anniversary in 2026, and in Wyoming, the planning for it has already begun.

Nick Neylon, deputy director of Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources, met with the Big Horn County commissioners at their January 7 meeting.

The meeting had dual purposes. One was to request a proclamation calling for the creation of a county semi-quincentennial committee. This committee will work on a project for the celebration.

Neylon also presented information about grants that will be available to counties and municipalities.

Those interested in being on the committee should contact Big Horn County Clerk Lori Smallwood at 307-568-2357 or lori.smallwood@bighorncountywy.gov.

The first meeting of the committee will be in February.
