Promising “an inclusive platform for all ages to connect, learn and engage with essential mental health resources and tools,” the Cowley Mental Wellness Fair will take place this Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cowley Log Gym. The fair is free and includes a free lunch. Though hosted by Cowley, the fair is open to everyone, Community Mental Health Project Coordinator Krystal Crosby said, adding that the fair is a “come and go” event. Cowley mayor Joel Peterson emphasized the town’s dedication to mental health, stating, “This event is a testament to Cowley’s unwavering commitment to the mental well-being of our citizens. It is not just a standalone event; it’s a promise from us to consistently ensure our community feels supported and understood.” The fair is more than just an informational session, Crosby said. It is a movement toward a holistic and sustainable approach to mental wellness. “Mental wellness is not a one-dimensional issue; it permeates into all aspects of our lives and thus demands a rounded perspective,” said Crosby, co-chair of the event. “It’s about understanding the challenges and actively establishing a safety net for our community members.” The other co-chairman of the event, Dey Lynne Stebner, emphasized the proactive nature of the event, noting, “By connecting individuals with resources and education, we’re not just reacting, we’re preventing. These events are vital. They empower parents, spouses, friends, coworkers and the wider community to actively engage in fostering an environment that supports mental wellness, potentially averting crises.” Attendees can expect a day filled with insights, community connection and even a free lunch courtesy of the Big Horn Citizens for Economic Development from the Bull Pub, Crosby said, adding that it promises to be a day of unity, understanding and a step forward in strengthening the community’s mental health fabric.
