Cowley News: Lots going on in Cowley; welcome to the Sheas
A lot has been going on in our little town. On our street alone we have two houses for sale and two houses in the process of being built. Katherine and Jamison Short and family moved to Evanston, and Susanne and Randy Bowers moved back East.
Hal Moore, a contractor and builder, bought a lot which had an older mobile home that was removed and is now building a new house and possibly a second one later on, and Hinckley James Inc. is building a house between Hinckley`s and Short’s homes.
Jeff and Tianne Samson sold the third house that they have built in Cowley to Mary and John Shea. They moved here from Louisville, Kentucky. John was born in Florida but ended up moving around quite a bit because his father worked for contractors of NASA. Mary was born in North Dakota.
John and Mary went to high school together in Langdon, North Dakota, and became high school sweethearts. They went to different colleges, her to nursing school and him pursuing his pilot’s license at the University of North Dakota. John was raised on a motorcycle, building, repairing and riding, and racing. It was only natural when he accepted a job in Billings for Corporate Air that he would check out Wyoming and Montana with the thought of riding his motorbike in the area. Back in the 1990s, he made a goal to someday live in Wyoming.
John flew for Merlin Express for a number of years before eventually landing a job for UPS Airlines in Louisville, where he flew for them for 29 years, flying all over the world, retiring as a captain. Mary worked as a nurse but later became a mother and was a stay-at-home mom. They have two children, a son living in Nashville pursuing a career in music and a daughter at college in Kentucky.
Mary likes to read and do volunteer work. In Kentucky she was a volunteer for hospice. She considers herself a caregiver. They both like to ride around the hills in their jeep and sightsee and also travel on their motorbike. They are happy to be here. Mary is now closer to her twin sister in North Dakota, and John is thrilled to have a slower, less stressed life. This summer they built a 40x60-foot shop on their property behind the house.
Also in the Mountain View Subdivsion, Aric and Ashley Hanusa have been building a new house right across the street from the Sheas. This past year Aric, with some help from family and friends, has done most of his own building, and they just recently moved into their new home.
Jeff and Tianne Samson are working on their fourth house across the street from her parents’ house, Dean and Teddie Tippetts, who are presently on a mission in Texas. It works out well so they can live in and take care of her parents’ place while they are building their own new house close by. As winter is coming on, I’m sure all the builders are concerned about freezing weather coming and getting as much done as possible.
It’s fun to have new people move into our town, making it more well-rounded and interesting. Welcome to the Sheas.
