He married Ranae Shumway on Jan. 19, 1980, and they had one son, Travis. Ranae and Danny were later divorced. Danny loved spending time with his five grandchildren, Toran, Mikayla, Leah, Levi and Tyler; his favorite things to do with them were fishing, cutting wood in the mountains and four wheeling.  Danny was good with his hands and mechanic work. He was always the first one called by family and friends for ideas on how to fix things. He loved to read, go fishing and drive around in his truck. Dan enjoyed spending time with his family and loved being part of their lives. He was a small engine mechanic and received his training at A to Z Rental in Phoenix.

He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Arizona. He especially liked serving on the Hopi Indian Reservation. He lived with his mother the last years of his life. Those preceding him in death were Alfred Allen and Della Allen, Vern Graham, Bill and Millie Shumway, Keith and Floeese Weston and Byron Graham.
