The dastardly Grinch will be fun Saturday
Ah, what fun we will have Saturday for the Main Street Mingle. There’s nothing quite like the arrival of Santa Claus to ignite the holiday spirit for both kids and parents alike.
But one thing we’ll all have to be aware of is the possible arrival of the nefarious Mr. Grinch. Intelligence sources have informed event planners that the Grinch just might sneak into town and disrupt Santa’s arrival. He’s a crafty one, Mr. Grinch, and he may well be skulking about just before Old Saint Nick arrives on his wagon to greet all of the good little boys and girls.
Lovell police and firemen will be on the lookout for the big, green fellow, and it will take all of the kids coming out of the movie at the Hyart to cheer on our brave first responders as they search for and hope to thwart the Grinch before he can steal Christmas in Whoville, er, Lovell.
Cheering and vigilant pointing will be most important if we are to catch the rascally fellow, though kids will need to stay out of the way and let the firemen and police officers do their job.
If the Grinch can be apprehended and whisked away, Santa will be free to come down the street in his special western wagon and greet children at the chamber of commerce office.

It will be a great day of activities starting with the Dauntless Dash at 9:30 and continuing with Christmas Stroll shopping, events at the Minchow’s Food Court building, the free movie, Santa and events and activities at the Lovell Library, Lovell Rec and the Lovell-Kane Museum. The chili cookoff and soup luncheon at the museum is always a treat.
Perhaps the best thing going during the day is the Deployment Farewell open house at the Bairs’ MJ Court at 1050 Shoshone Avenue. Here’s hoping our patriotic community will show up to honor the six area soldiers soon to be deployed overseas. The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the big gym across the street west of the Catholic Church.
The late afternoon and evening features the annual chamber bucks drawing and tree lighting at the downtown mural park, complete with singing and hot chocolate, and the Bible Church will cap the day with the annual live nativity at the church parking lot.
The weather is even supposed to be pretty good for a Mingle, with a daytime high of around 50 degrees. That’s downright tropical for a Mingle.
Hope everyone plans to spend the day in Lovell and has a wonderful time.
