Edward “Ed” A. Lopez, 72, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., died suddenly and entered into eternal life on April 19, 2016.[caption id="attachment_11197" align="alignright" width="202"]
Edward “Ed” A. Lopez [/caption]Ed was born in Lovell to Manuel and Aurora Lopez on July 13, 1943. He went to school in Lovell. He graduated from Northwest Community College in Powell. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He married Lupe on May 12, 1972.He began his career as a seasonal ranger at Big Horn Canyon National Recreation Area in Wyoming and Montana, attending the ranger intake program at Grand Canyon National Park, Ariz. He also served at Amistad National Recreation Area, Texas; Big Bend National Park, Texas; Carlsbad Caverns National Park, N.M.; Oregon Pipe Cactus National Monument, Ariz. and retired as Superintendent at Coronado National Memorial, Ariz.Ed was a commissioned federal law enforcement officer, a wildland firefighter, structural firefighter and an EMT. He enjoyed a second career as a tax preparer. He also enjoyed playing golf and restoring his vintage Camaro. He was also actively involved with St. Andrew Church. Ed will be remembered for his contagious personality and great sense of humor.Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Aurora Lopez, and brother Manuel Lopez.Ed is survived by his wife, Lupe, of 44 years, children Kristina (Chad), Belen (Ray) and Moose, grandchildren Devon, Dakotah, Brisa and Josh, and siblings Irene (Jean), Elizabeth, David, Betty, Luis (Suzette), Anita (David), Robert (Janis) and Daniel (Judy) and many nieces and nephews.Ed’s family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Banner UMC cardiac unit and the Hatfield Funeral Home.Services will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church on April 28. Rosary will be at 11:30 a.m., followed by Mass at noon. Interment will follow at Southern Arizona Veteran’s Cemetery with military honors.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be given to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church of Sierra Vista.
