Elder brothers take top two spots at Byron Days Fun Run

About 40 runners headed toward the Sand Hills north of Byron, then returned to town Saturday morning for the annual Byron Days Fun Run.

Organized by Brandon and Serena Hessenthaler, the event featured both a mile and a five-kilometer race. Runners were invited to run in attire representing their favorite decade.

The top finisher in the 5K was Jadeth Elder of Thermopolis, who ran a time of 18:14. Brother Jacoby Elder placed second in 18:56, followed by Jacob Thomas of Lovell in 19:08.

The top female runner was Kara Jo Sanders, who placed fourth overall in a time of 22:36. JaKae Elder ran 25:33, Avery Silvis 29:54 as the second and third female competitors.

Other top finishers were Darren Elder, 23:24, and Evan Walker, 24:05.

Paige Sanders won the mile in a time of 7:10, followed by Emersyn Wilmes in 7:34,
Hannah Wilmes in 8:24, Hadlie Nicholls in 8:31
and Shellie Sanders in 8:34.

The top male finisher was Jackson Sanders in a time of 8:02.
