Evelyn Jane Wittick

Evelyn Jane Wittick, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland, Wyoming, surrounded by her family.
Evelyn was born on Thursday, March 3, 1927, in Blue Island, Illinois, the daughter of James and Ethel (Fay) Warren. She was the middle child of three.
She graduated from Geneseo, Illinois, in 1945 and started working as a telephone switchboard operator until 1948. At that time, she married the love of her life, Charles Nelvin Wittick, on April 9, 1948. They honeymooned to Wyoming and never left. They had short stays in Worland and Thermopolis before making Lovell home for 69 years. Lovell is where all six children were raised.
Evelyn enjoyed gardening, quilting and genealogy. She was also a member of the Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for numerous years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wittick, on June 4, 1994, parents James and Ethel Warren, brother James Warren and great-grandson Casey Niemczyk on February 10, 1998.
She is survived by her children, Charlyn (Richard) Lewis of Wheatland, Cheryl (Jay) Saul of Sheridan, Charles (Peggy) Wittick of Cody, Diana Pickerel of Sanford, Florida, Brenda (Will) Helling of Cheyenne and William (Peggy) Wittick of Powell; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and sister Marjorie Goold of Clovis, California.
A funeral service for Evelyn was held Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Worland with Pastor Kayi officiating. Interment was in the Riverview Memorial Gardens in Worland.
Serving as pallbearers were Chris Eddleman, Josh Wittick, Elliott Wittick, Charles Wittick, Marshall Wittick and Travis Helling. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Beckett Graves, Trevin Graves and Brady Eddleman.
A memorial to the Knights Templar Eye Foundation, P.O. Box 271118, Flower Mound, Texas, 75027-1118 would be appreciated by the family.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland and Bryant Funeral Home in Worland were in charge of the arrangements.
