Fall sports gearing up
Lovell High School
Summer is winding down, and with school rapidly approaching, the fall sports programs are about to get underway at Lovell High School and Rocky Mountain High School.
Golf will have a head start as their practices will begin on Monday, Aug. 12, at 8 a.m. at the Foster Gulch Golf Course due to their first tournament of the season beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
In the gym, head coach Tera Kostelecky will hold volleyball two-a-days beginning August 19 from 6:30-7:30 a.m. and 4-5:30 p.m. the first two weeks before heading to their opening tournament in Lander on August 30.
For football, practices will also start on August 19 with two-a-days from 6-8 a.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
Once school starts on Wednesday, football will continue the double practices from 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. to prepare for their season.
The plan for cross country practices for now is to meet at the high school gym lobby to start practice at 3:45 p.m. daily on August 19, but heat could determine if that time changes in the future.
Rocky Mountain
At Rocky Mountain High School, coach Jessee Wilson is planning football practices on the first week of school as follows: Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 19-20, 6-8 a.m. and, weather (heat) permitting, 4-6 p.m.; first day of school August 21, after school only; Thursday and Friday, Aug. 22-23, 6-7:20 a.m. and after school.
Head volleyball coach Stephanie Ames was unavailable at press time for information regarding the start of volleyball practice at RMHS. The Lady Grizz will host the North Big Horn Invitational on August 30-31.
Rocky Mountain head cross country coach Tim Jones said practice will open August 19 at 4 p.m. at the school.
All athletes need to make sure they have the proper paperwork and their physicals turned in to the office prior to participating in practices.
