Farmers Market off to a successful start with more to come

This past Friday, August 1, was the first Lovell Farmers Market of 2025.

The Lovell Farmers Market is held at Armory Park. There are 10 tables under the pavilion that can be used, but many vendors expand out onto the grass surrounding the pavilion, bringing their own tables to set up on.

The Farmers Market was well attended by vendors and customers alike. This week’s market featured 14 vendors. Sharron Nicholls, Lovell Farmers Market coordinator, shared that there were more than 60 customers that showed up to support the market.

“The first half hour is so busy, we have to try to hold the people back,” Nicholls said. “There was a very good turnout for it being the first week.”

On top of the 14 from this past week, Nicholls said that there are six more vendors that will likely be at the next market.

The Nicholls make the environment of the small-town Farmers Market more personal by adding a few aspects to the market.

The first is the hand painted signs that are set up around town before the market itself. Duane Nicholls is the one that sets the signs up, hoping to attract more community members to the market.

More hand painted signs can be seen at the market itself.

“I painted the signs that are around the market myself years ago,” Sharron explained.

Another thing the Nicholls do to encourage involvement is the drawing that is put on every week. When customers first come to the market, they are invited to put their names in for a drawing for a prize. This helps keep track of how many people are at the market, as well as promote all the opportunities at the Farmers Market. This past week’s prize was a gift card to the Mustang Café, and Sharron Nicholls shared that there are many other fun prizes to come.

“It’s neat to see who’s all there, and we love being there are making new friends,” Sharron said. “It’s a special little market we have.”

The next Farmers Market will be held tomorrow (August 8) at Armory Park from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
