Ferrin LaMar Christensen, 85, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, at New Horizons Care Center, holding hands with his daughters. LaMar would have celebrated his 86th birthday on March 30.
He was born in Redmond, Utah, on March 30, 1940, to Howard LaMar Christensen and Maxine Petersen Christensen. He was the oldest of six children.
LaMar married his eternal sweetheart, Andra Lin Dastrup, who he loved and cherished, in the Manti Temple. They were married for 61 years. Born to Lin and LaMar were two daughters, Becky Kay Ontiveroz and Colet Hart.
He worked for Georgia Pacific for 37 years, retiring August 31, 1996. His employment brought many opportunities for him and his family. They left Utah in 1968, moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan, before moving to New York, where they raised the girls, then moved to Wyoming in 1977.
LaMar enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and gardening, and he loved all sports, especially baseball. The greatest joy in his life was his family. Each of his grandchildren would tell you they were his favorite.
He was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, including three bishoprics. He shared what he had with friends and strangers alike.
LaMar was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Maxine, wife Lin, grandson Justin, son-in-law Hal D. Hart and brothers Marvin (Harve) and Lamont Christensen.
