Friends will need your help to save the library
Citizens of Lovell and surrounding area:
Here are some interesting facts about our Lovell Library: The Friends of the Lovell Library began many, many years ago by the Lovell Woman’s Club. Our committee consists of volunteers, and we are not affiliated with any other friends group or the Big Horn County government. We stand alone with our own bill of rights and rules to follow.
Our responsibilities are solely to support the library any way possible. We have raffles throughout the year and our annual fall book sale. With the money we raise we purchase all newspaper and magazine subscriptions and books. We also support the expenses for children programs throughout the year. What a wonderful place for our children to go.
If you have never been in the Lovell Library you should stop by sometime and see for yourself what a wonderful library we have and all it has to offer. There are also computers that can be used by patrons that need to complete a project on a computer, and the employees are more than happy to guide those that might need it.
My reason for writing this letter is this: Are we going to lose our library? Last year the county commissioners cut the library budget, which led to shorter hours for the library to be open, and some maintenance was cut. Now, understand the building the library is in is owned by Big Horn County, so all utilities and maintenance is the responsibility of the county.
We have heard that the library may have budget cuts again this year. What it will be we don’t know and what effect this will have.
Do you feel Lovell needs their library? If you do, we may be needing your help. Read the papers coming out in the future to keep informed as to what is going to happen and what you may be able to do to help.
Thank you to all citizens for your support of our Lovell Library.
Sharie Loegering, chairman
Friends of the Lovell Library
