Georgia Rose Armour Amundson

Georgia Rose Armour Amundson

Sept. 9, 1950 – Feb. 18, 2024

Georgia Rose Armour Amundson, 73, died at home in Billings on February 18, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.

Georgia was born to George and Helen Armour on September 9, 1950, in Philipsburg, Montana, and lived in many places in Montana until her family moved to Lovell, where her dad, George Armour, taught at Lovell High School and met and married Janice Mack.

Georgia graduated from Lovell High School in 1968. She was employed by the National Park Service from from 1976 until 2006, when she retired from the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, where she began her career.

Georgia will be remembered for her wonderful smile, sense of humor and generosity. She loved to spend time with family, quilt and travel, especially with family and to see family. She was adventurous and traveled to places around the world. She drove many times to Alaska.

Georgia’s most important career, however, was as mother to Gordon. Family meant everything to Georgia. She was a grandmother to Olaf and mother-in-law to Rosemary. In addition, Georgia is survived by her sisters, Vickie Armour Healy, Marjorie Armour Caputo and Deborah Mack Willis; brothers Don Mack and David Armour; many nieces and nephews; and longtime companion Michael Harrington and his family.

There will be no services for Georgia, but her family encourages her friends to take time to remember Georgia, recalling the fun times they have had with her.

Memorials may be sent to the Northwest College Foundation (nwcollegefoundation.org) for the George and Janice Armour Memorial Scholarship, 231 West 6th St., Powell, WY 82435 or to a charity of your choice.
