Grad Night Out parties to follow commencement
Graduating seniors from Lovell High School and Rocky Mountain High School will enjoy a variety of games and activities at Grad Night Out parties that follow commencement exercises next Monday and Tuesday nights.
According to Grad Night Out chairman Natalie Wardell, the fun will begin each night with an all-school “glow dance” under black lights at 9 p.m. The dance will be held at the Lovell High School Multipurpose Room Monday following commencement and at the Cowley Community Center adjacent to the Log Gym Tuesday following graduation.
The dance will run through midnight each night and include numerous prizes drawn every 15 minutes or so throughout the evening for all attendees.
All high school students are invited to the dance, but for Lovell, non-graduating seniors must depart at midnight, Wardell said. After that, only graduating seniors will be able to participate in the fun.
For Rocky Mountain, however, due to smaller numbers, seniors will be allowed to invite one guest to stay for the rest of the night.
Following the dance, students will move to the Lovell Community Center each night at midnight for food, games and activities. Wardell said the students will be divided into teams for the first and second rounds, with top point-getters competing individually in round three.
Games in the first two rounds will include running tic-tac-toe, balloon worm, balloon popping, noddle pass, a spoon race with fishing line and hula hoop worm. Featured games in round three will be the head-shoulders-knees cup game, and as finalists are whittled down, a ping-pong egg carton game, a blow the cotton balls game and, for the final four competitors, an eating challenge featuring “all kinds of weird things,” Wardell said.
Students will move to Rose City Lanes for bowling from 2:30 to 4 a.m., with plenty of fun challenges, Wardell said.
Breakfast will be served back at the community center at 4 a.m., and student memories will be shared via a story written by Anna Anderson and read by Collin McArthur for Lovell and Gerry Burton for Rocky Mountain.
Every senior who stays throughout the night will leave with a major gift, Wardell said. Major gifts this year include paddle boards, TVs, mini refrigerators, GoPro, air pods and more.
As always, if a student leaves the party at any point, he or she will not be allowed to return.
Members of the Grad Night Out committee serving with Wardell are Janet Prosser, Candida Jones, Janelle Workman, Tiffany Minchow, Megan Wilson, Hiedi Christensen and Miranda Wambeke.
