Grass Stains win Lovell rec volleyball tournament

Lovell Rec and Kaeson Anderson hosted a successful four-on-four grass volleyball tournament over the weekend. The tournament was held on Saturday Aug. 2, featuring eight teams. There were six co-ed/adult teams and two middle school teams.

Because of the small number of middle school teams, the middle school teams combined and played with the co-ed. They did end up receiving their own placing, though.

First place in the co-ed/adult division was Grass Stains. Members of the team were Addi Holcomb, Kelsey, Anna and Autumn. The first-place middle school division team was Volleywood Stars with team members being Kashlyn Collins, Charlize Hessenthaler, Tilly Neves and Haven Hecker.

“The turnout wasn’t as good as I’d like, but it was enough to still have a tournament,” Anderson said, adding that he is not sure whether he will host another volleyball tournament because of the outcomes of the last couple of tournaments. He is hoping he can hold it earlier in the summer with the same goal of eight to 10 teams for the divisions.

“I am considering running a 3 on 3 basketball tournament next year in place of the volleyball tournament,” Anderson added.
