Grizzlies post good results at home track invitational
The coaching staff at Rocky Mountain High School ordered up a perfect day for the Rocky Mountain Invitational Saturday, and the nice weather helped produce some strong results for the Grizzlies.
In girls events, the Lady Grizzlies scored 43 team points to place sixth out of nine teams, just behind Burlington (48 points) and ahead of Greybull, Meeteetse and Ten Sleep. Powell won the meet with 186.5 points.
The Rocky girls did well in field events. Senior Tarynn Schoening and junior Keylee Christiansen placed second and third in the pole vault at 8-0 and 7-6, respectively, each matching her season best.
Senior Elliahna Scheeler threw over 100 feet in the discus for the first time this season, placing fourth with a toss of 100-7.
And in the high jump, sophomore Kaysie Cooley placed sixth in the high jump, clearing 4-5, with Christiansen right behind her in seventh place at 4-3.
In running events, the Lady Grizz had three placers in the 1,600 meters: freshman Leah Haslem fourth in a personal-record time of 6:23.86, junior Evynn Alvarez sixth at 7:53.30 (PR) and sister Ellie Alvarez seventh at 8:04.08.
Senior Brittly Boettcher ran the 100-meter intermediate hurdles for the first time this season and placed eighth in a time of 19.42.
Freshman Kennedy Brimhall set a personal record and nearly placed in the 200-meter dash, finishing 10th in 30.06.
The team of Charlee Welling, Brimhall, Cooley and Boettcher placed second in the 400-meter relay in a time of 55.32, 11/100ths off the state qualifying time.

Boys results
Senior Hudson May had an outstanding day for the Grizzlies, placing in two events. He placed second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 53.86 and seventh in the 200-meter dash in 24.53.
Sophomore Sam Loyning also placed in two events – sixth in the 1,600 meters in 5:16.02 and seventh in the 800 meters in 2:22.46.
Junior Will Watts placed seventh in the 100-meter dash, hitting the finish line in a time of 12.15.
The team of Landon Pruett, Cooper Ward, Watts and William Fuller placed fourth in the 400-meter relay, rounding the oval in 46.81, their best time of the season so far.
In field events, senior Hayden Wambeke and sophomore Joaquin Scheeler tied for eighth place in the shot put, heaving the metal ball 38-10. Sophomore Kellan Jackson nearly placed in the discus, finishing 10th with a toss of 99-7.
Junior Jacoby Wachob tied for eighth in the pole vault, clearing 9-6.
The Rocky boys placed seventh at the meet Saturday with 23.33 points.
Head coach Tobee Christiansen was traveling on school business this week and was not available at the school to provide comments on the meet.

Lovell meet
The Grizzlies will make the short journey to Lovell tomorrow (Friday) for the Lovell Invitational. The competition begins at 1 p.m. with field events and the 3,200-meter relay, followed the rest of the running events at 1:30, starting with the open 3,200 meters.
