Grizzlies run well at Big Horn, Foster Gulch
Running twice in four days, the Rocky Mountain Middle School cross country boys got their miles in during meets at Big Horn and the Foster Gulch Golf Course near Lovell.
“The young Rocky team has been improving each week, and many are moving up in the conference ranks,” coach Gerry Burton said. “The runners of this week are Rowan Hanusa and Mason Haslem. They have both dropped their times significantly and are becoming great leaders.”
Running at the Big Horn Equestrian Center on Friday, Hanusa, an eighth grader, placed 19th in the field of 170 runners in a time of 13 minutes on the slightly shorter Big Horn course. Fellow eighth grader Cameron Minchow finished 73rd in a time of 14:42. Haslem, a sixth grader, finished the course in 19:55, and seventh grader Liam Anderson ran 21:31, eighth grader Grant Weierman 22:32 and seventh grader Jasper Tippetts 25:29.
At Foster Gulch Monday, Hanusa was again the top runner for Rocky Mountain, placing 13th out of 71 runners in a time of 13:42 on the normal middle school course. Minchow placed 34th in a time of 16:17, and Haslem ran 22:53, Anderson 25:49 and Tippetts 27:13.
The middle school team is off this weekend and will compete next at the Worland Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Green Hills Golf Course.
