Grizzly middle school gridders crush Shoshoni

The Rocky Mountain Grizzlies enjoyed their first home games of the season on the gridiron Saturday, powering past Shoshoni 50-20 in the eighth-grade game and 32-0 in the seventh-grade game.

According to coach Hal Moore, quarterback Jaxx May scored five touchdowns in the first game, and Benson Jolley scored two touchdowns. Two-point extra points were scored by Jolley, Jaxson Sponsel, Hudson Moore and Brooks Brost.

In the seventh-grade contest, Tripp Hopkin ripped out a 63-yard touchdown run, and Moore scored on a 91-yard touchdown pass, 61 yards coming after the catch, Coach Moore said. Brost and Ty Samson added a touchdown each, and two-point conversions were scored by Brost, Samson and Madden Cooley.

Kaden Baker recovered a fumble to thwart a Shoshoni drive, Coach Moore said.

The Grizzlies will host Greybull for a sixth-grade game today (Thursday) at 6 p.m., then travel to Burlington Tuesday, Oct. 1, for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
