Playing close to home, the Rocky Mountain Middle School football teams split a pair of games in Lovell Tuesday afternoon, winning the eighth-grade game 14-6 and dropping the seventh-grade contest 12-8.

In the first game, Lovell quarterback Mac Morgan scored first for the Bulldogs, but Rocky quarterback Jaxx May matched that score with a 74-yard run, tying the score 6-6. Lukas Miller gained some momentum for the Grizzlies with an interception, and Rocky scored on a 46-yard run by May, with Benson Jolley powering in the two-point conversion.

Coach Hal Moore reported that Ty Samson hit Brooks Brost on a seam route for the only Rocky touchdown in the seventh-grade game, and Brost also ran in the two-point conversion. He said Kaden Baker also had a fumble recovery for the Grizz.

With each team now 1-1, the Grizzlies will host Shoshoni Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
