Half marathon set for Saturday

The annual Lovell Recreation Half Marathon is ready for runners this Saturday, Aug. 30.

According to Lovell Rec Director Kristine Henley, the run will start at Armory Park Saturday at 6 a.m., with registration/check-in at 5:30. She said runners have been registering on-line, but competitors can also register the morning of the race at the Armory Park picnic pavilion.

The course will take runners up the hill to the south on McKinley Avenue and out into the country as McKinley becomes Road 11½, then west on Lane 13 before turning back to Lovell. Course details with turn-by-turn directions can be found on the rec district website: lovellrecandboces.com.

A 10K option is also available for the race, Henley said, noting that a 10K is 6.2 miles and a half marathon is 13.1 miles in length.

As of Tuesday, one female competitor and three males (one a minor) had signed up for the race.
