A volunteer project to improve handicap access at the Lovell Rodeo Grounds is nearly finished with the painting of a concrete pad on the south side of the stands and the installation of an adjacent handicap ramp to the stands.

Project leader Pat Steed said Miller’s Fabrication installed the new aluminum ramp a few days ago, and on Tuesday Rob and Jacob Winterholler of Rocky Mountain Surfaces painted the pad, donating their time, paint and signs.

All that’s left is new boards for the first row of seats made wider for wheelchair access, Steed said.

In late April, a crew of volunteers that included Steed, Eric Welling and Ernie Workman of Workman Contracting, Wayne Curtis of 3rd Generation Concrete and Daniel Strom of Builds All Construction joined forces to pour the concrete handicap/wheelchair pad using gravel donated by GK Construction and concrete donated by Croell.
