Hanusa eighth at Worland Invitational for RMMS Grizz
Getting into the heart of the season, the Rocky Mountain Middle School cross country team showed they are getting into midseason shape while running at the Worland Invitational on Thursday at the Green Hills Golf Course.
Eighth grader Rowan Hanusa had a strong day for the Grizz, placing eighth out of 147 runners in a time of 12:34, by far his best time of the season.
Fellow eighth grader Cameron Minchow placed a solid 73rd with a time of 15:35, and eighth grader Grant Weierman ran 17:58, sixth grader Mason Haslem 23:31.
“The Worland meet was great,” coach Gerry Burton said. “All the boys were able to run a PR that day. Rowan did fantastic placing eighth, and several runners jumped their times by at least a minute or more. Cameron Minchow got his personal best -- PRed by 30 seconds or so.
“It was a hot day, but the runners did amazing. Two of the boys were ill (and were unable to compete).”
The middle school Grizz will run again today (Thursday) at the Thermopolis Invitational, then conclude the regular season Thursday, Oct. 10, at the conference meet in Powell. The run today for the RMMS boys is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
