Helen Doerr Hutton Regnier

Nov. 7, 1924 – Sept. 19, 2024

Helen Doerr Hutton Regnier passed from this life on September 19, 2024, in Brigham City, Utah, from complications from COVID.

She was born November 7, 1924, to Alfred and Amalia Ungefug Doerr. She was big sister to her three brothers, Roland, Don and Eugene.

She graduated from Lovell High School and attended business college in Denver. It was there she met husband Herman Hutton. When Herman completed his military service, they moved to Elk Basin, Wyoming. To this union was born daughter Linda. Sadly, Herman lost his life in a boating accident on Yellowstone Lake when Linda was just 16 months old.

Helen and Linda moved to Lovell, where Helen met former high school classmate Edward J. Regnier. When they married, Helen gained a step-son, Larry. Later, daughter Kristi was born.

Helen was employed at the First National Bank and then at the County Extension Office, where she worked until her retirement at age 65.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a faithful member there all her life. Helen’s faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life.

Helen loved flowers and always had a beautiful yard. For many years she was one of the Lovell Flower Ladies, watering flowers on Main Street throughout the summer. She served on the Senior Center nutrition board and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.

In 2007 she was honored as Senior Rose Queen during Mustang Days. Her heart was always in Lovell, and last year she donated a bighorn sheep statue to the Mural Park.

Many will remember her as the lady who taught them to decorate cakes. She made many beautiful wedding cakes in her lifetime. She also loved playing cards and word games.

She and Ed hosted many foreign exchange students throughout the years, many of whom continue to think of them as their second mom and dad. She loved spending time with family. She was kind and generous, always offering a helping hand.

We will always remember her smile and kind and loving heart. We will miss her.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Herman and Ed, and her brothers.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Ben) Karlinsey and Kristi Regnier (John Haustveit); step-son Larry (Sharon) Regnier; 12 grandchildren, Troy (Julie) Karlinsey, Monte Larson, Cody (Doyle) Hone, Jay (Stacey) Karlinsey, Quinn (Rebecca) Karlinsey, Clint (Tiffany) Karlinsey, John Regnier, Rick (Shelly) Regnier, Eric Regnier, Kristine (Jerrod) Isaak, Jared (Tonya) Haustveit and Jamie Haustveit (Nik Renz); 39 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and her beloved grand puppy Rudy.

Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lovell. A viewing will be at the church at noon. Burial will be in the Lovell Cemetery.

Donations may be made in her name to St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Lovell Senior Center or the Lovell-Kane Area Museum.
