Hospital team wins hospital tournament
A team sponsored by the North Big Horn Hospital District won the annual North Big Horn Hospital Foundation Friends of the Foundation Golf Tournament Saturday at the Foster Gulch Golf Course southwest of Lovell.
Winning first place was the team of Todd Baxendale, McKay Baxendale, Taylor Winland and Chris Bryson.
Second place went to the Lovell Chronicle team of Mike Kitchen, Ron Schmidt, Kirby Winland and Randy Wacker.
The Bentonite Performance Minerals foursome of Alan Snyder, Neil Baxendale, David Hayes and James Lytton placed third.
Doug Savage won the prize for longest drive on Hole Number 1, and Dave Winterholler won for closest to the pin in two shots on Hole 4. Ty Hessenthaler made the longest putt on Hole 5, and Hayes won for closest to the pin on Hole 6.
Members of the hospital foundation board cooked burgers, brats and hot dogs, and board member Jeff Pearson poured his famous aquatic bird vapor beverages.
Foundation, Marketing and Grants Manager Payton Gambill said the tournament was a great success, noting that the tournament cleared just under $6,000 for the hospital foundation.
“All of that will go toward updating the hospice room at the hospital and launching a patient assistance fund – something we’re really proud to support,” she said. “The day was full of great weather, great people and a lot of generosity from our sponsors, teams and community members. The support from local businesses and the fun on-course games really helped make the event both enjoyable and impactful.
“We’re so thankful to everyone who came out or contributed. It’s another great example of what this community can do together.”
