Local author shares Christian message in her book series

By Richard Espinoza

Local book author Susan Perkins Evans Kovaleski has a great gift for reaching people with a positive message of faith and spiritual healing that motivates them to seek love from a higher power.

Kovaleski has written a 10-book series called “The Friends of God,” which aims to build a close relationship with God through Christian faith. The first book she wrote in the “Friends of God” series is “It’s a GREAT Day to Say Hello!” Each book has a different type of animal character in every story.

Kovaleski is originally from Gillette, Wyoming, lived in Cowley for three years, moved to Tampa, Florida, and lived there for 25 years before moving to Lovell in early March of this year.

Kovaleski learned how to draw, which led her to write children’s books. She said her books are great for both children and adults.

“I started drawing eight years ago, and they just progressed from there,” Kovaleski said. “Three years ago, I started to draw animals, and then suddenly, I knew I would write at least 10 children’s books. I just went about doing it right then, and it wasn’t anything I planned for or worked toward at that moment. I just believe God is so nice, and He puts these things into your heart, and that’s what you go about doing.”

Kovaleski said she wanted to write a book that connects with family and something her son can be proud of reading.

“I wanted to write something I would purchase for my son,” Kovaleski said. “What I want to do is write great things that would stay inside of him and write stories that would last for generations past me.”

Kovaleski said the names of the animals she uses are from people she knows. In her book, “It’s a GREAT Day to Say What God Says!” she has an animal character named after her middle name.

“When writing books, I pick actual people I write about as characters in the story,” Kovaleski said. “In my books, I use my middle name Agnes for Agnes, the long neck storytelling giraffe, and she introduces her friends throughout the books.”

Kovaleski said her children’s books are all about faith, spreading a spiritual message to help change people’s lives.

“The important message in my books is that God loves you,” Kovaleski said. “He cannot change His mind about you, and He created every human life for a reason because He loves you. It is all about how much God loves his children and how big He is in you and for you.”

Kovaleski said she grew up in a Christian life, and spreading God’s word helped her decide to write books that would encourage people to read his message.

“I have known God for a long time,” Kovaleski said. “Jesus has been a part of my life since I was 10 years old, and as you grow up in this life, you realize the trials and the things you go through; God never leaves you. He is faithful and true, and His word is the truth. So, when I wrote these books, children and adults will know there is hope.”

Kovaleski said she has received letters from people who have said her books have changed their lives and made them believers in God. She said knowing her books help people understand God’s message is a blessing.

“I have heard from people who said that they had gotten to know Jesus because of my books,” Kovaleski said. “People who read my books said they realize God loves them, and I heard from people from around the world and in other countries that my books have changed them. A professor from the University of Oxford said my books are the best children’s books he has ever read.  He told me my books’ simplicity and greatness are hard to find. Not only do children read my books, but adults also love reading them, and they like that I remind them that God loves them.”

Kovaleski will be at the Lovell Library on Thursday, April 17, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., reading her book from The Friends of God series, “Every Day Is a GREAT Day to Celebrate Resurrection Sunday!” Stop by the Lovell Library or contact Kovaleski at her email at Susanperkinsevans756@gmail.com for additional information.
