Jerry Wayne Warman

Oct. 27, 1946 – Feb. 3, 2025

Jerry Wayne Warman, 78, sadly passed away February 3, 2025, peacefully at his home in Lovell.

He was born October 27, 1946, with his twin sister, Judy Ann, in Bakersfield, California. Due to the circumstances and economic hardship of having twins, their biological family knew they could not provide for them, especially since Jerry was so sickly. They were gladly adopted to the loving parents of Wayne and Martha Warman immediately upon birth.

He lived in California until about 1955, when the family relocated to Cody. In 1956, the family relocated to Lovell, where he graduated high school in 1966. He enlisted in the Army after high school, where he was an SP5 and was honorably discharged July 8, 1970.

While Jerry was enlisted in the Army, he and Sandra Rodriguez fell in love through writing letters, which led to their marriage on August 17, 1970. To this union three children were born, Gerry Wayne, Julie Marie and Teresa Marie-Martha. They later divorced in 1991.

He graduated from Northwest Community College. During his time in the Lovell area, he gained many trades and had many talents. Jerry was a locksmith, a mechanic for Chevy, avid certified scuba diver, manager of VIP trailer court, HAM radio enthusiast and operator, search and rescue volunteer and truck driver for Moncur Farms, just to name a few. He worked for the Big Horn County Road and Bridge for more than 30 years, from which he retired. In 2009, he went back to Northwest College where he successfully completed the course in surveying.

Jerry had a passion for fly fishing, hunting and music, teaching himself to play both the guitar and piano. He had an incredible ability to connect with others, striking up conversations with anyone he met and forming friendships wherever he went. Jerry was a lifelong learner, always eager to expand his knowledge, including teaching himself new languages. He was well known for his kindness, generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Despite his many interests, he never seemed to be in a hurry, always taking the time to enjoy life and those around him. He was a devoted and loving father who stood by his children no matter what. His talents and curiosity extended far and wide —whether he was playing music, sharing stories or impressing others with his ability to solve a Rubik’s Cube with ease. Jerry’s warmth, wisdom and many gifts will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Martha Warman, brother Keith Robert, biological parents Cleo and Charlette O’Connor, biological brother Steven O’Connor, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his son Gerry (Mischel) Warman; daughters Julie (Todd) Scheeler and Teresa (Nathan) Wilkinson; brothers Danni (Marylou) O’Connor and Harvey (Linda) O’Connor; sisters Judy Ann Campbell, Judy May Moore, Linda Franklin and Carol (David) Stevens; many other half siblings; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on April 26 at Haskell Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Penrose Cemetery.
