Joan Huddart Walker

Joan Huddart Walker

Nov. 14, 1932 – Dec. 3, 2021

Joan Huddart Walker, 89, was born on November 14, 1932, in Cheyenne and passed away December 3, 2021, at home with her family.

She was raised by her parents, Frank and Thelma Huddart, in Cheyenne until they later divorced. Thelma married Slim Andreson, and they later moved to Lovell to run Andresen Jewelry. Joan finished high school and also met the love of her life, Lewis Walker. Joan never liked being an only child, so her mother marrying Slim gained her two brothers, Tom and Jerry.

After graduation she attended Northwest Community College in Powell. She began working for Dick Jones Trucking, handling their bookkeeping, and she married Lewis on April 18, 1953.

Lewis began working at the service station during this time. In July of that same year, Lewis and Joan moved to California once Lewis joined the Army. They were transferred to Arkansas shortly after and stayed there for 18 months. Their first son, Mike, was born in May of 1955. A couple months later, in July, they moved back home and bought the station Lewis had been working for. They successfully ran the business together for 65 years.

In June 1957 they had their second son, Greg. Later on, when the boys got married and had families of their own, she had the pleasure of spoiling four grandchildren, Jill, Katie, Stacy and Christy.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and daughter-in-law Melinda.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years; sons Mike (Missy) and Greg (Gwen); granddaughters Jill (Brad), Katie (Chris), Stacy (Rich) and Christy (Wade); and great-grandchildren Weston, Hayden, Miles, Morgan, Lane, Rhett, Ridge, Allie, Tate and Nora.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell. Interment was at the Lovell Cemetery.
