Joannie Louise Rodriguez

April 27, 1950 – Nov. 5, 2023
Joannie Louise Rodriguez, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on November 5, 2023, at 1:26 a.m.
Joannie was born April 27, 1950, at the War Memorial Hospital in Powell. Growing up, she loved being outside, even if that meant being the first one to volunteer for yard work over house work.
She attended high school in Byron as a Byron Eagle. She was in the pep club and graduated in 1969. After high school she married in 1971, and shortly after started a family. As a stay at home mom, to stay busy she opened a daycare called Fun Time Daycare.
She loved helping others. That is what she lived for. She would give the last cent she had to anyone that needed it. She was a very caring, compassionate and strong woman that left an imprint on everyone’s live that crossed her path. Some people would even say they strived to be like her because, even though she was not rich, she was rich with love.
Every summer, if you drove by, you would always see her, her sisters aka Golden Girls and good friends sitting on the porch listening to her boyfriend Elvis, “even though he don’t know,” she would say, with all the grandkids, great-grandkids and all the neighbor kids. Everyone she met, she would make them feel like they were family.
She was our super woman. She beat the odds so many times when she was first diagnosed with her health problems. She fought and fought to stay on this earth for all her loved ones.
Joannie was preceded in death by her grandma and grandpa Mckinney; father David O. Pearson; mother Ruby Louise Hoffman; step-dad Robert (Bob) Hoffman; son Travis O. Burke; and sisters Kay Foster, Janie Foster, Debbie Burrows and Judy Hoffman.
She is survived by her daughters, Krystal (Gerardo) Rodriguez of Byron, Abby (Kevin) Hernandez of Caldwell, Idaho, and Sandy (Vince) McCollam of Byron; grandkids Samantha (Diego) Delgado of Byron, Daniela (German) Soto of Powell, Steven Rodriguez and Juan Rodriguez of Byron, Chandra Burke of Spokane, Washington, Daniel (Jenny) of Deaver, Rosie (Jose) Cortez of Byron, Mike (Kylie) of Powell, Carlos (Sammi) Hernandez of Byron, Stephanie (Victor) Puentes of Byron, Ricardo Rivera of Powell, Shania (Trevor) Hardisty of Byron and Dalton Foster of Lockwood, Montana; great-grandkids Jayden Delgado and Diego Delgado of Byron and Liliana Soto of Powell; sisters Noralee (Jim) Cook of Windsor, Colorado, Linda (Jack) Barns of Powell, Robin Barclay of Byron and Peggy Bailey of Washington; brothers Bobby (Sheryl) Hoffman of Gardner, North Carolina, and Russel (Judy) Hoffman of Douglas, Wyoming; and many, many more adopted children, grandchildren, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, at 11 a.m. at the LDS Church in Byron. Everyone is welcome to come.
