John Frank Langolf

John Frank Langolf, 73, died April 5, 2016, in Boise, Idaho. He was born on May 2, 1942, in Lovell, to John Langolf Sr. and Geneva Owen Langolf. John was one of[caption id="attachment_11133" align="alignright" width="226"] John Frank Langolf[/caption]six children, having two older sisters, Maureen (Bill) Fink and Pauline (Gary) Sessions, and three younger sisters, Gayle (Wayne) Anderson, Beverly (Greg) Erickson and Sue (Glen) Sanders.John spent his youth in Lovell and later attended the University of Wyoming. He proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1958 to 1967, rising in rank from private to sergeant E-5.He married Diane Stevens and together they had two children, Lane Langolf of Seattle, Wash., and Kimberlee Langolf Hammond of Eugene, Ore.John proudly spent his entire working career with the JI Case Co. In his later years he was an advocate for the Epilepsy Foundation and was a spokesperson for Keppra Pharma. He was grateful for the opportunity to be of service to others.On Sept. 17, 2000, John married Arlene Wright, his best friend of 13 years, and became the instant father to her children, DeAnn (Taylor) Cox, Brad (Genea) Brimley, Dwight Brimley and JJ (Ryoko) Rollin, grandfather to 12 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 16, all of whom loved him and will miss him dearly.John loved the outdoors. He enjoyed Oregon Ducks football, baseball and NASCAR racing. He and Arlene were avid travelers and together were able to visit Europe, Japan, Mexico and 49 of the 50 states. They may have been found wherever his motor home was parked, preferably on a beach in Mexico.John and his son, Lane, were in New York to attend a Yankees baseball game on Sept. 11, 2001, an event that deeply affected him.John will always be remembered as one of the good guys.Interment was in the Lovell Cemetery Tuesday, April 12.
