John J. Muller

May 12, 1982 – March 23, 2016

John J. Muller was born in the wee hours of the morning on May 12, 1982, to Monty Lee and Kelly Jo DeWitt Muller in Buffalo, Wyo. He joined older brothers Jerry Lee and Steven Leroy. The family lived in the small town of Kaycee for exactly a year, then moved to the Big Horn Basin so Monty could find work, eventually settling in Cowley. John and his brothers started school in Cowley, grew up there and formed many lifelong friendships.[caption id="attachment_11075" align="alignright" width="225"]John J. Muller John J. Later, he developed an interest in MMA cage fighting and won two title belts before he decided he could spend the required time in training and still work and have a family life.In 2009, he became a father and his focus shifted once again. Ciara Cheyanne Williams is the apple of her Daddy’s eye, and everything he planned to do with his life from that day on was geared toward providing for her.In 2010, he met Wendy Jane Collins in Belle Fourche, S.D., and they decided to blend their families, making John an instant grandpa. After losing his older brother, Steve, in October, he began experiencing some medical issues that ended up being far more serious than anyone realized, including John. On the afternoon of March 22, he had an apparent heart attack. Taken to Billings that night, doctors determined that he had been without oxygen too long and would not recover. The family knew well what he would want done, so the decision was made to take life support off and let him go home to his Heavenly Father. He died March 23. “We are confident that Steve was waiting at the gate for him and the two are tossing a football around and giving each other a hard time, like they did as kids,” his family wrote.John is survived by his lovely wife, Wendy, of Powell; his beloved daughter, Ciara, of Byron; step-children Cassandra, Samantha, Rebecca and Parker Collins; grandson Aaden; parents Monty and Kelly Muller of Cowley; eldest brother Jerry (Amy, Jaden) Muller of Cody; sister-in-law Jennifer Muller (Chris, Macie, Brody) of Lovell; grandfather Lenard Muller of Frannie and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. He was met in Heaven by grandmothers Marta, Beverly and Kay; grandfather Pat; paternal aunt Connie and his sorely missed, deeply idolized older brother Steve.Funeral services were held on Monday, March 28, 2016, at 9 a.m. at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell. Burial was in the Cowley Cemetery.
