Kudos to the Chronicle for Byron coverage
Dear Editor,
Perhaps having had the privilege of writing a regular column for the Lovell Chronicle in the past, I am slightly biased when it comes to David Peck and his staff. I know that much has been said already about the tragic events surrounding February 10 in Bryon, but I am taking this opportunity to add my thoughts … a different view, as it were.
I commend Mr. Peck and the staff of our local hometown paper for their thorough yet sensitive reporting of this story. It can’t have been easy to provide information to the readers while remaining compassionate and sensitive to the pain being felt by the family, friends, neighbors and communities.
The Chronicle managed to maintain a delicate balance in a world that suddenly felt horribly out of balance. Without sensationalism, judgment or callousness, we learned more of what had taken place. No rumors, no innuendoes and no suppositions were inserted into the stories. Through the Chronicle’s careful reporting, we also commiserated with the dispatcher, the first responders and the hospital staff who did their jobs so well despite their overwhelming sorrow.
My family has known David for many years. Rarely have I been more proud to call him “friend.” This is one smalltown paper we can depend on. He hires quality staff, and he personally sets the standard high. And we are grateful.
Thank you, Lovell Chronicle.
